This course refines both teaching and personal mermaid skills, preparing participants to teach all PADI Mermaid levels in accordance with PADI standards.

Training includes classroom workshops, in-water skill development, rescue techniques, and professional-level lesson design.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Mermaid Instructor Course, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Hold or Obtain a PADI Advanced Mermaid certification (or qualifying certification from another agency)

  • Have completed Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care training within the past 24 months

  • Provide a current medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months

  • Demonstrate the following waterskills:

    • Swim 400 metres nonstop without swim aids

    • Swim 800 metres using mask, snorkel, and fins

    • Tread or float for 10 minutes without aids

    • Tow another diver 100 metres while wearing a mermaid tail​

Course Duration and Structure

The program typically runs over 3-6 days (depending on your current cert level), covering both theory and applied practice. A typical schedule includes:

  • Classroom knowledge development and standards review

  • Breathing, stretching, and stamina workshops

  • Mermaid skill demonstration and refinement

  • Rescue and assistance exercises

  • Teaching practice with real or simulated students
